It was in the
16th Century that Queen Elizabeth granted the town of Willenhall
permission to make Royal Locks and, although the shape of the Industry
has changed radically over the years, the family-owned Company of
Willenhall Locks is taking that tradition forward into the
new Millennium.

It was in 1952 that
Thomas Sambrook founded Keys of Steel and, as the business grew, he began
assembling locks for a neighbouring firm. In the late 1950s this client
firm decided to move it's business entirely into producing locks for cars
and sold the other locks business to Mr. Sambrook. By that stage,
his son, Derek, was already involved, having joined the Company in 1956
after completing his National Service. Willenhall Locks was incorporated
in 1959.
Over the years the
business has continued to expand, with Willenhall Locks acquiring the
Lionheart Range of antique ironwork and window fittings in 1991 and renaming
it Nostalgia. This now operates as a separate Hardware Division.
